So for those of you who are familiar with dreadlocks, I am starting the prcess of getting them. If you have them or some similiar form, how do you go about maintaining the hair and exercising? All advice is much appreaciated! Thanks :)

I have had synthetic before....When I have them in (I normally leave them in about 3 months at a time), I find the best way is to just tie them back....I normally only wash my hair every 3 days or so, so dry shampoo is one of my fave things♥

    Bump!
    To help you out!
I have relaxed hair the upkeep is kinda hard when you're sweating it out almost everyday lol
my advice is keeping your hair moisturized conditioner and oil I use Extra Virgin Olive oil on my scalp and dry shampoo inbetween washes.
For sythetic , weave and braids I consider to go on Youtube they have alot of good videos for dreads and other natrual styles.
    Oh and Welcome to MFP!

Do you exercise every day? When I had dreads I would exercise every other day and wash my hair on the days I'd work out. On the days I didn't I'd just tie my hair up while I showered. If you wash too frequently they can come out a little, but I think it would be better than letting sweat build up. If anything you could always just let water run through it without using shampoo or really rubbing it. I wouldn't really suggest going more than a couple days without washing your hair specially if you're working up a lot of sweat.
