Feel like I'm eating TOO many calories!!

Hello all! New here and looking for some guidance.... My daily goal for calories is about 1200, which I do eat before working out, but never eat what I have burned off.

My mom recently lost 60 lbs by eating 1000 calories a day and going to the gym each day, and she swears by it. I am heavier than she is, and try to tell her what MFP is saying about going into starvation mode. Is she totally wrong? I feel like I am eating way too much for the amount I need to loose to be eating my calories I've burned...

I do Zumba daily and burn around 400-800 calories after a workout.

    Everyone's body composition and calorie utilization is going to be different. I can tell when my calories are too low when I start dreaming about food. I used to be eat less than I do now, now I have to eat more. Just listen to your body and raise or lower as needed, then use the tools after the fact to figure out your TDEE and life will become easier. The number doesn't matter so much as doing what your body wants you to do.
