Over the last month or so, I have become more interested in working out. I love walking and I love my wii but I want to step it up a notch now. Exercise helps me alot with feeling okay about myself and my depression so it's important to me that I keep this up.
A few weeks ago, I decided to try this out. I loved it, but I was in so much pain for the next week or so. It hurt when I walked.
What do I need to know? I want to run but not hurt myself in the process lol. I did some warm up stretches beforehand so what did I do wrong?:s

You didn't do anything "wrong" necessarily. You used muscles in a way they are not accustomed to being used. You really need to ease into running. The Couch to 5K (C25K) plan is a very good way to get started.

When I started running, I hurt myself also. I just tried to do too much to fast and had to lay off of exercise for about a month. Then I started slowly and made sure I took 1 - 2 days away from running to let the muscles repair themselves. Good shoes are important too.0

I would encourage you to take a rest day between efforts. You need to give the body time to repair itself. Rest is when the adaptations take place, not during the activity. It's not just pulled muscles, but also other soft tissue injuries or just overall soreness that will prevent you from being able to continue.0
