Insanity

So, is anyone planning to tackle this one once it's released? I'm planning a 60 day challenge for myself (and any other crazies
) to get through this. I have a feeling from the reviews I've heard that it's gonna be a tough one. I can't wait!

As an aside, I'm not talking about insanity in general. Insanity is a new advanced workout being released by Beachbody, the P90X folks.0
-
Do you have any idea how long the workouts are. It looks a little to crazy for me.0
-
Buddy that I know got an advance copy and says it is truely "insane."
He said it blows away all of the P90X discs.
Sixty day program but no weights. If there are no weights with this, regardless of how intense it is, I want no part of it and I LIKE intense workouts.0 -
As I understand, they'll be in the line of 40-60 mins. The preview that was released last month by the company was 45-ish minutes, consisting of
Warm-up round
2 rounds of the warm up exercises at a faster pace.
Time 10:30
Stretching
8 minutes
Suicide drills - fast paced drills at bursts of 30 seconds each (similar to P90X Plyo but indeed...more insane). Each are done in rounds of 2-5 minutes, 30 seconds break in between.
20 minutes
Cooldown0 -
That doesn't sound as bad as I thought. I was thinking it was more along the lines of an hour of intense training. I think I could handle (at least attempt it) 20 minutes. Looking forward to hearing from other folks that have tried it when it comes out.0

I think, too, with any HIIT style training, it's not really advised to go too long.
I'll be curious to see if this is the case with Insanity. Hopefully it's released in the next couple weeks in accordance with all the teaser emails I've been receiving from Beachbody. Talk about building the anticipation!0 -
This is the list of DVDs which are to be included in the program:
1. Dig Deeper/Fit Test
2. Plyometric Cardio Circuit
3. Cardio Power & Resistance
4. Cardio Recovery/Max Recovery
5. Pure Cardio/Cardio Abs
6. Cardio Abs
7. Core Cardio & Balance
8. Max Interval Circuit
9. Max Interval Plyo
10. Max Cardio Conditioning/Cardio Abs
Plus a workout schedule & fitness guide.0 -
I'm very interested in this program. I have plans to do P90X another round first though.0

I was torn for a while. I'll be finishing up a round of P90X very soon and originally thought I'd either go on to day 120 then start Insanity or start a round of X+ and do Insanity down the road. I think now I'm looking for something a little more cardio intense. It's also good for me to get a break from the X. I'd definitely like to go back to the X, though, for a round of X+ later.0

So, is the program more cardio focused?0

Looks fun. I might get it. I like this kind of stuff. Looks like one of my college rugby practices (well half of one).
My workouts do this kind of work, I don't put as much core work in, but other then that, looks about the same.
FYI, I have three of them listed here.

Also Tabata training works on the same principle as this, although Tabata doesn't incorporate core or plyometrics, just the ultra-high intensity cardio portion.0 -
So HIIT with circuit training, wow. That is insane and definitely for the hard-core athelete.0
-
Difficult but certainly not impossible. I'm hoping it will be similar to some Crossfit WODs I've seen posted for HIIT and Plyo.
It is more cardio intense and requires no weights (just your own body weight!)0 -
I may need to look into it.
Currently doing ChaLEAN Extreme.0 -
How do you like ChaLEAN? I've used Turbo Jam and loved it but had mixed reviews about CX from some others.0
-
I actually love it!
It's not a "lose weight" program though, I've shrunk but not in weight (I've actually gained).
My legs look awesome and my upper body is comin along.
The cardio is limited, so I am going to toss in TJ and some SI6 to kick it up.
The one thing about it.... you gotta have weights...I tried with the bands and it sucked. So, I "invested" (I use that word to take the sting out) in some PowerBlocks (wouldn't recomend... go Select Techs). On some of the exercises I can handle more weight thein Chalean!
I'm on the second phase and it's enough variety to keep me from getting bored. I like that about ChaLEAN and P90X. Is Insanity like that, assigned different workouts daily?0 -
I am so in! I can't wait and even watch the youtube trailer from time to time just for fun.
I'm currently in week 11 of my 4th P90X round. I will follow that with a week or so of yoga, pilates, and probably some Core Syn. The plan is to start Insanity when we return from a trip in July, so I'll start on July 20th. Can't wait!!0 -
Nice best of luck to you! Did you happen to win in WOWY the other day?0
-
mrd232... I had to laugh as I TOTALLY thought you were talking about crazy insanity. I was going to say, I tackle insanity every day! :laugh:0
