For whatever reason I am super hungry today...any suggestions on how to keep my random eating at bay? I have been scooping from the salsa and peanut butter jar most of the day!!!

I have those days quite often. I just try to put my mind on something else, and drink an obnoxious amount of water.
  • I trying drinking a ton of water. Sometimes you just have those days. If I miss having a snack I feel that way.

Stick to the salsa - fewer calories!

Sounds like you're craving something, but not getting it. Take a listen to your body the next time the urge to eat hits.

I find drinking water helps with the munchies 90% of the time. I'm more looking for something to do than hungry. But I have hungry days too. I am more than happy to give myself an extra snack if I find myself too hungry. Especially if I was lower on my calories than usual sometime earlier in the week. Plus, some days we just ARE more hungry than others!

I find this helps me when I'm "procrastineating" (the most common form of stress eating in my life):

Take a deep breath, a liter of water, and your daily vitamins (if you haven't had them already).

Find a quiet place and sit down. Calmly consider your stress and anxiety levels today. Consider your weight loss goals. Are you hungry or is food the first thing you think of when you're driven to distraction?

If you're truly hungry, make a small meal, include soup if you have it, or a light sandwich, and eat it slowly.

If not, figure out how to manage your impulses today (usually I do it by managing anxiety, re-ordering what's on the to-do list and knocking out a string of tasks/projects).

FWIW, I do this a couple times a week.
