Question....maybe TMI

So for lunch today I decided I needed to knock off the processed foods and I picked up some shrimp, some cucumbers, some celery, some corn pico de gallo, and an apple.
Since then my stomach has been a little...messed up. I've had to use the bathroom twice. Very gassy.
Is this normal? Is it because my body isn't used to all the veggies/fruit since I've been eating processed foods for lunch for a couple weeks?

HAHA. Okay.
This is normal. If you don't normally eat mostly fruits, veggies and seafood, it will make your stomach hyper sensitive.
When I go out of town and this is TMI too, I normally eat far less veggies and fruits because it isn't always as available as I make it in my house, and I won't go to the bathroom THE WHOLE I'm out of town. Seriously. Then when I return to my normal diet, my stomach is crazy for 2 days then I balance back out and I'm regular.
HAHA, I'd suggest eating more veggies, fruits and seafood more regularly. :laugh:0 -

Lol alright. I do eat a lot of seafood but my fruit and veggie intake has been very lackluster lately. So I'll work on that.0 -
When I made the decision to put more fiber in my diet the same thing happened. Give it about a week.0

Yup, fruit and veggies digest faster and are full of fibre so that will move through quickly if you are not used to then.
Keep eating them and they will regulate you nicely. Chances are that without then you were more oily and/or compacted than you should have been.
You will notice a different, more healthy consistancy and odour once you keep it up.
Your innards will thank you!0 -
My mom always told me to eat more salad..the veggies in it will make you...go lol0

As disgusting and embarassing as it is to admit...you are 100% correct.0 -
Changing your diet can change your whole system. Once you eat good for you all the time, the opposite will happen when you eat processed or fastfood.
As a Nurse, I will tell you, the shrimp may have contained some bacteria that could have made you sick, especially if it wasn't cleaned or stored properly. Drink lots of fluids, avoid the greesy foods. If you become nauseated, vomit, and continue to run to the bathroom (esp. if it smell very foul, sick smelling) or begin to run a fever/have chills, then you should call your Dr. It is always likely you could have caught a GI illness too other then food poisoning.
Eat some good yogurt or kefir to help balence out your digestive track either way. Don't give up on eating right! If anything going to the bathroom more might help you lose weight faster.0 -
Could also be the seafood. Not saying it was bad, but occasionally a helping that's slightly too large can have... uh... drastic effects. I have fond memories of galloping along Brighton Pier, desperately searching for the facilites... :bigsmile:0

This is SOOOOOOOOO true. If I eat anything bad, I about die!
I went out to lunch last Friday and had a SEMI healthy lunch. I was in my bathroom on the floor, literally, that night. I almost didn't make it home my stomach was so upset. Ohhhh woe is me for healthy eating NORMALLY!0 -
bad shrimp? i bloat with veggies but don't experience gas. that happens when i eat meat. beano does work - as a former vegetarian, i used to use it even more than i do now. but your body does adjust. just keep eating more veg. and as one poster said, you'll get to the point that eating out does it to you. i made the mistake of a veggie burrito tonight @ chipotle. i feel bloated and gross. won't do that again. then again, their burritos are the size of a small child...0

Fiber, the one true frienemy!!!0

Everyone takes certain foods differently. Try Beano for the gas and make sure to drink lots and lots and LOTS of water. Water helps a lot with the digestion system.0

I'm recently having this problem too. I'm sure it's fine. All the fiber I've been eating and the water I've been drinking (pretty much all I drink) has been keeping me "regular" LOL0
