Stupid scale!

Okay, so I just need to rant a little to let off some steam. Almost two weeks ago I was so excited to have FINALLY gotten below 200 (barely...199...but still) and I thought I'd finally found my stride. That doesn't seem to be the case. I worked my BOOTY off last week, increasing treadmill time, incorporating some jogging, pushing myself harder on the circuit, and I weighed in this week and lost NOTHING! This weekend was bad for me food wise (friend's surprise birthday party, my birthday, Superbowl, etc.) but, even though I ate some bad foods, I did so in moderation. I thought that I'd have at least lost a pound! My pants aren't fitting tighter, though they're not fitting looser, either. I know that I have to stick with this and I'm in the super strict mindset of, "FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION," but I just am getting so frustrated with it taking so long. I don't expect miracles. I keep my fingers crossed for 1-3 pounds per week. That's not asking much, is it?! At this rate I just feel like I'll never hit my goal! I have another 60 lbs AT LEAST to go and it feels like it will never happen! It took me over a year to lose the first 40 and that was with a very lackadaisical attitude for the most part...okay, the first 20 were...the second 20 were with MFP's help. But, still, that took a YEAR and I just feel like this last 60 is going to take me forever! Maybe my hormones have me all out of whack. Maybe it's normal to feel a little defeated from time to time, but it SUCKS! For the time being I'm breaking up with my scale. Maybe we can work on strengthening our relationship after I drop another pant size. MAYBE! Thanks for listening to me whine like a baby!

sometimes it is hard to see results on a scale, because if you are working out, you are making muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. The more lean muscle you have, the more calories you will burn during the day. Don't get discouraged. If the number on the scale gets to you, put it away. You are doing fine, nobody can be perfect all time and I bet you will be in a different pant size in no time!
  • I love the saying 'Don't Worry about the weight, Lose your Wasit!" Basically, you are probadly gaining muscle mass and therefore will not see a drastic change on the scale right away. Stick with it and it will all happen. Most people don't see a difference until about a month or two from when they started. Also make sure you are hitting your Target Heart Rate (THR). If you are not then you are not working hard enough. The formula to find your ideal heart rate when exercising is 220 minus your age multiplied by 0.80. Also work out at her target heart rate for 20 minutes, three times a week. This has helped me start to lose some weight. Good Luck and Stick in there!

I hear ya Kristie . I have been having the same struggle for over a year now. I haven't netted much loss since my son was born. I lose, then if I eat just a little too much, I gain. I work out 3-4 times a week and I haven't seen much change in my clothes in a while. We can't give up though. Its got to happen eventually, right?:ohwell:

:flowerforyou: i feel your pain girl!

I too am not a friend of my scale lately...its not budged in a few days....and I know I'm doing my job and eating the cals I need and exercising and water etc....

I think for me I'm watching those biggest losers and thinking I'm suppose to see bigger numbers! sigh!

BUT ....the cloths are becoming my new focus....like yesterday I noticed my long coat fit a lot looser than a few weeks ago! So even if you aren't seeing the cloths fit looser yet...know they will and eventually the scale will follow!

You have already done an amazing job and it will not be easy but I know you'll do well w/ the rest!!!

    hugs!
    Ali
