Riddle me this Batman....

What would you do if you had a neighbor that refuses to respect your space?
Examples:
:explode: Allows their "Children" (<-- I say it this way because they run a daycare) to throw their snacks over the fence into my yard (Which nearly killed my dog over the weekend and cost me just over $2000.00 to get better)
 Allows their guests and visitors to park in my driveway though I've repeatedly asked them not to. (They rent 2 houses side by side and also have street parking available.)
I'm to the point I think I'm going to lay out spike strips and post "No Parking" signs... but this isn't nice. An helpful suggestions out there guys??

Ugh, I hate when our neighbour uses our driveway. He will have guests over, they will use the bottom half of our driveway to park, but "to be kind" and allow us to get out of our driveway, they'll park half on our freaking grass!
It bothers the hell out of me, but he's also our landlord so I don't know how much play we have.0 -
If you can get to the snacks before your dog, toss 'em back over the fence.
When they're parked in your driveway or blocking it, go bang on the door and tell them to move or you're going to hit the car. If it isn't moved, ram into it. It does make insurance rates go up, but hey, you asked them to move and they didn't. Another cheaper way is to learn the parking laws that apply to driveways. It's possible you can use a trespassing law to get the cops on your side.0 -
You should dress up like batman and scare the crap out of all the kids....
I'm sorry. I so wanted this post to be about batman.
No seriously sue her.0 -
you have several option I will lay a few out and only you know what would work best:\
1. ignore it. this will work if you think they are trying to get a reaction out of you.
2. go and have a sit down with them (talk) with a peace offering (some cookies, or finger sandwiches) and stay for a while just chatting, but start with the issue and then stay for a nice convo. This will work if you want to make friends and you think they are awesome people.
3. nag them, yell at them and annoy the hell out of them. Make them feel that there is something off about you and that you could go off the handle at anytime so they should watch it. this will work if you think they are the type that needs to be afraid of you to show you any respect.
4. Do it back, then just say oh I thought it would be ok since you do it to me and smile and just stand there till they say something out of feeling uncomfortable. If they try to walk away follow them and keep putting your face in theirs till they respond. this will help you feel better and will work if you think they just don't get why it bothers you.
5. Threaten to talk to the mom's telling them that their children are not being watch properly and stuff. If she asks why, tell her because they are throwing rubbish over the fence in your yard and the person watching them is unaware of it, where are you? you can't see that they are doing this?
The one I would take is the plate of cookies.
Good luck luv0 -
Oh, I know what ya mean about the tossing of food over the fence. We had neighbors who threw chicken bones over the fence. Luckily, we found the bones before our dog did. The jerks also used to flick burning cigs over the fence and I found one smoldering in our bark-o-mulch. My husband went ballistic!
On the other side of our property, we had people who'd park ACROSS our driveway! Actually, it was visitors of our neighbors. I don't know what makes ppl think that is even close to OK.
So, the first step to take is to talk to the offenders. When you've done that, and if it doesn't work, then you need to take it further. Our two cases took a couple of times to get under control. With the food/cig tossers...they were renters, so a word with their landlord did the trick. With the driveway blockers, several conversations with our neighbors was going nowhere. So the next time a car parked across our driveway, a call to the police worked wonders. My daughter was pregnant, due any day, and having a car blocking our driveway didn't sit well with us, if we needed to rush to the hospital. Good luck, and I hope all works out well!0 -

when you see the kids outside just start swearing like a sailor, pretty soon those kids will use those words at home and their parents will ask them were they heard it, they will say daycare and before you know it they won't have any kids in daycare. Now that's what I call a win win situation.0

Install barbed wire over your fence and barricade your driveway... if that doesn't work hire armed guards!0
-
Steal some poopy diapers, and rub it on the car's door handles every time they block your driveway.
Throw dog turds into their yard.0 -
Nice probably isn't going to get you anywhere. You just need to decide whether you're ready to fight, or to let them walk all over you.0

Is your dog nice or does it have the potential to be a badass? Sorry about the vet bill. ): ^^^there's some good ideas here!!!0

I would start by saving all the wrappers you find for a week. Then go over there and have a nice conversation with them. They might be unaware that the kids are doing this. Doubtful, but you can bring it up like "I don't know if you are aware of this, but some or one of your kids is throwing their wrappers in our yard and our dog had to go to the vet for this" Show her the bill. Tell her if it doesn't stop you will have to take them to court for the cost of the vet bill. Also tell her you do not find it okay for her visitors to park in your driveway. It is an inconvenience for you. If they continue, call the police every time. I am not sure about the law, but I would think it would be considered trespassing.0

Does she have a license to run an in home daycare? You can report her to the health department and if she does, they will check out the safety issues (not safe for the children to have trash lying around). If she does not...she will be unable to perform childcare in her home until she gets the proper license.0

Wow. You guys have some really great ideas! Thank you for all the suggestions. I might have to try one or two (Special thanks to the cookie lady. I was considering the idea myself, but I just don't know how well it will go over).
Talking with them could turn into a bit of a problem. The gentleman pretends not to understand any English, and the lady of the house tries to be polite, but I'm not sure she gets everything I say. I've talked with them both before (they rent 2 homes next door to each other) when they allowed their guests to block the common access road. It nearly ended in a fist fight (between myself - weighing in at 175 at the time- and a nearly 300lb female and 2 just as large males) in front of my daughter after the third request to PLEASE not allow their guests to park there. Since I threatened to call the police and their landlord and have them evicted, they no longer park in front of the Alley, but the next day "someone" stole my lawn mower and placed screws behind my car tires. Luckily another (much nicer) neighbor spotted the screws before they could do any damage and removed them.
** Clarification on the things over the fence: It's food. Not garbage. Think cakes, cookies, pieces of string cheese, crackers, etc.**
Oh well. I guess I'll try the "Flies with Honey" approach first and THEN the spike strips...0 -

HAHA this! you can also let all the air out of the car tires when they are in your driveway.0
