Another stay the same!

4th week in a row with no weight change. Progress is very slow. I upped my protein this week, adding a scoop of protein powder and I have lost 2" round my waist. I don't know if that is coincidence, but it felt pretty darn good any way! So I was really surprised to see the same weight on the scales today. Is this normal? How long before my weight will catch up with my inches?

I dont mean to offend on this one but your diet is very off, your carb intake makes up 38% of your diet with protein making up only around 19% and fats making up almost 46% of your diet, I wouldnt expect much progress from that, if your looking to lose weight you need a serious boost in proteins and to drop your fat intake to around 20%....35-40% carbs is fine as long as your staying active and they are in good complex carbs. so my advice would be a complete overhaul of your diet0

I have the same thing going on! I feel firmer and lighter this week, my clothes feel baggy, my tummy feels flatter, and I've been cycling everywhere, a couple of hours a day. Yet today no change.
I upped my calories last week to maintenance for a while as I was feeling quite cravey and I'm within three or four pounds of my goal. With the new calories though I have found myself in the green a few hundred under every day so I would have thought that plus the cycling would have caused a loss?0 -

Thanks for this. As I'm so close to my goal i.e. the centre of my BMI range and I do a lot of exercise and strength work I should be adapting the MFP percentages and not just going with the pre set ones right.0 -

I have struggled with the fat. I don't want to do anything that I won't stick to in the long term, but I have been surprised by the percentage of fat. Some of it must be good fats, olive oil, avocado etc. We've had a lot of household changes in the last month so just settling back to a normal routine and I've planned what I hope is a better diet. I still think the fat will be over 20% though. Is that really a problem?0 -

Im at 50% protein, 30% carbs, 20% fat (altho I do go over here). Im on week 3 of no change. no pounds, no inches. I have been tweeking a bit in the past 3 weeks. the only BIG change was going from 2 or 3 days a week cardio to 6 days of P90X using my own cardio in place of theirs...AND doing doubles twice a week. Any ideas what I need to do...or stick it out yet anohter week and hope for something.....0 -

Always interested in ratios that work for others as I'm never sure which ratios work best for me. I'm using 45/30/25 (C/P/F), tho' unless I make sure to add protein powder, I never reach my protein percentage.0 -

well yes, every body is different and as you progress in your goals you will find that some things that work for some people wont work for all although most people can get a great result from basically the same things eventually you will end up fine-tuning it0 -

your correct about the healthy fats, they are vital in many functions of the human body, even saturated fats in small amounts are necessary for the human body, the membranes of cells in the human body need saturated fats but not much. and as for the 20%, for athletic individuals it is widelt considered unhealthy to have less than 20% fat in a day, ive had days ive ran to the chow hall and ate cookies because I was under 20% for the day0 -

50% protein is pretty high, I imagine that is difficult to achieve, I would say to bring your carbs up a little bit..all in healthy complex carbs though and your protein down to 45% keeping fat around 20, your routine seems pretty solid, I cant view your food diary though since your only viewable by friends, as for weight loss in reference to cardio...what kind of cardio have you been doing? HIIT training is best..ehh..ill tell you what in your case, add me as a friend and hit me up with some more details about your workouts and cardio routines, I have to go for a few days but ill get back to you with better advice when I get back0 -

thats a good ratio for an athlete, stay active and that balance should pay off well0 -
I lost 102 lbs by eating 50% carbs. 30% fat and 20% protien. I felt like the 20% protien was the most important. These can be tweaked, depending on what you're doing. Now that I run a lot, I try to get in around 55% carbs, and a bit lower on the fat, still keeping my protien where it is. Smeone that is weight training, like heavy lifting, will want more protien and less carbs. When I was lostng the weight, I wasn't doing anything special. I used a gazelle trainer to drop the first 87, then bought an elliptical and started doing small weights and body resistance training, nothing special there either.0

102lb weight loss, that's amazing! I'll think 50% carbs 30 fat 20 protein is more achievable for me at the moment. Deffo something I can aim towards over the next couple of weeks. And at least no one has told me I'm not eating enough!0 -

Thank you. It took just under a year, and I maintained it with the same ratios or thereabouts for about five years until I got pregnant and was put on activity restriction, but didn't stop eating like I was active.
It's one of the most recommended percentages that I can find and it not only worked for me, but my best friend who despite having a thyroid growth that kept her hypothyroid and eventually led to removal of her thyroid also lost 60 lbs this way.0 -
I've set my goal to carbs 45%, fat 30%, protein 25% and am pretty close to them this week. And after no movement on the scales in a month, today showed a 1lb loss! I won't get too excited yet as I have to maintain it to Saturday (official weigh in day) but if the weight loss holds then I can't believe the difference shifting the ratio of food has made.0
