Paleo question

Last night I went to a nutritionist to have my food intake evaluated as well as deal with some other symptoms and concerns. I realized what I thought was healthy food, was really all sugar. She then talked about 0 negative diet, etc. Turns out, I should be eating a Paleo diet - that is what my body craves. I also discovered (just started this elimation phase) that I am most likely allergic to DAIRY, CHOCOLATE, and processed SUGAR! So here I am on my first day of the paleo diet doing some research and trying to find things that I might like.

Right now I am enjoying my protein drink with collard greens and parsley...yum. Actually it's ok, but the chewing my drink part is something I will have to get used to.

So my question is this...for those of you on a paleo diet, and do not like a lot of variety in your food, how did you change the way you eat?

please, I am really worried about my health and am doing this out of health concerns so please no negatives...don't think I could handle that right now. I am looking for honesty and support.

If you could give me support or are also new to this lifestyle...please friend me...

Thanks

The only way you can know if you're allergic to those things is either through testing or examining your responses to them when you eat them and then their eventual elimination.

The problem with elimination phases is that you will most likely lose weight from restricting certain food sources resulting in lower calories. As a result, you will feel better because you will weigh less, so people attribute this to the foods.

You also may not need paleo. Paleo is just a fad diet like any other fad diet. Style your diet to you. You should be eating momma2teacher diet. You may very well not be allergic to anything or you could be allergic to a lot of things. You can only know by testing the waters.
  • Check out the primal paleo group on here. Nothing but negativity on these boards. And listen to your nutritionist not some tool on the internet. Best of luck on your journey to health.

Negativity or logic and rationality? Paleo individuals are some of the most brainwashed folks ever.

    How is your nutritionist licensed?

I have nothing against Paleo, but I do have something against "professionals" pushing bro-science.

I agree with weathergirl32.. Trust your nutritionist!

And come join us at: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/54-primal-paleo-support-group

Don't listen to a bunch of negative people on the main boards... Work with your nutritionist and do your own research on the subject. Most of these naysayers on the main boards have no medical or nutritional background...

If you have food sensitivities, you are going to feel so much better when you eliminate those things from your diet. You will feel better because you are no longer putting those irritants into your body, not because you are losing weight... Of course losing weight feels good, but that will just be an added bonus!

I think you are brainwashed by conventional wisdom. How is it not a good idea to eliminate things from the diet that are irritating? And how does it make sense for YOU a brainwashed convention wisomist to advise someone to go against what their nutritionist said? The op didn't want your take on the diet or your ignorant remarks about the people who subscribe to that diet. They asked for positive feedback and suggestions from people who have tried it. And based on your uninformed and closed minded views on it, I highly doubt you have tried it. Because if you did you wouldn't say such awful things about it. But Thats ignorance isn't it? Having an opinion on something you have never tried.
