I used FitnessPal in the past, but not enough to really help me. I broke my foot in January and am now our of my cast ( and into a brace). I gained some weight due to the injury and am ready to use this site. My doctor gave me the ok to start walking, biking, swimming (low impact exercises), and light weight lifting. I also have PT exercises for each day.
Before my injury I was an active runner, hiker, and cyclist. I completed a 50 mile bike race, two 5k's, a 10k, and 2 half marathons last year. I am terribly out of shape now and just cannot stand sitting around all day. My mind is ready, but my body is still in recovery. My foot will still ache or the muscles will be really sore, which means I have to take a day of rest (which annoys me). At this point, I should be out of my brace by June with the possibility of jogging again sometime in July (slow pace). I do have a gym membership and have started going back, plus I do some light weight lifting/strength training at home (started April 2).
My goals are:
lose 15 pounds by July, and/or a total of 20 pounds by September
lower BMI
to be running in August (10k race on August 18)
to be ready and fit for hiking Italy in September
My weaknesses are:
Beer (I love stouts and porters)
staying in the house if rainy or gloomy (I just want to sit in my PJ's)
food (I will get a craving and I just cannot shake it)
I would love to have some friends to keep me motivated and on track. I am not exactly sure how the friend thing works on this site, but I am sure I will figure it all out soon. Please let me know if you would like to be my friend, and how or what I do to make that happen.
