When I clicked to finish up yesterday, MFP told me " if every day were like today, you'll weigh 174lbs in five weeks."
Today I hade another good day, reached all my targets and worked out well. When I clicked finish today, it said I'll weigh 177lbs in five weeks.
What have I done to make it say that if I keep working this hard and sticking to my plan, I'll GAIN weight?
I'm confused!!

honestly, i have been here for like 4 months, 3 months doing it very well...and i have lost 12 lbs.
however, that button has not been close to anything it has said!! i have read that some people do say its true, but i just dont pay attention to it..Just keep on doing what you do and exercise:) good luck:happy:0 -
The "if every day were like today" thing basically takes your deficit for the day, multiplies it by 35 days and divides it by 3,500 calories per pound, and subtracts it from your current weight. So, if you ate just a few more calories today than yesterday, the subtracted amount is a little less.
Example:
Let's say you currently weigh 135 pounds.
Your maintenance calories are 1,730
You had a net calorie intake of 1240 today, so a deficit of 490 calories. Multiply that by 35 and divide by 3500 (or just divide by 100), and you have a loss of 4.9 pounds in five weeks. And the ticker will tell you that in five weeks you will weigh 130.1 pounds.
Now tomorrow, lets say you had a net calorie intake of 1260, for a deficit of 470. Divide that by 100 and you have a loss of 4.7 pounds. The ticker will tell you that in five weeks you will weigh 130.3 pounds.

It's been incredibly (as in shockingly) accurate for me so far. I was relatively surprised about it.0

Nice explanation, i think it is very encouraging to see my five weeks from now!0

You aren't going to gain any weight because you haven't lost it yet. It just tracks your deficit and multiplies it out over 5 weeks so that you can see an attainable goal and help you keep you motivated. You are not going to consume the exact same number of calories or burn the exact same number of calories each and every day. That is why that number varies.0

so sweet to give a great explanation!! thanks@0
