Body building snacks for business travelers

I am on the road a lot for work. This means I am at the airport, on long flights, and taking customers out for booze filled gluttony sessions.

I am going to start carrying a lot of snacks with me. I lean pretty heavily on almonds and pre-made protein shakes. Does anyone else have some good ideas? Airplane-friendly is best, as I am usually flying somewhere.

My primary goals are weight gain, so I need to pack in a lot of healthy calories throughout the day.

Thanks!

Clif bars are superb! They're delicious and have protein as well! Have you tried dried fruits? (bananas, apples, etc..)

Maybe a trail mix. Raw Almonds, coconut, dried fruit, pumpkin seeds. Hummus travels pretty easy too. I am Vegan (no animal products at all) and do not know what your dietary restrictions are but some people eat cheese and boiled eggs or those Tuna packs. Greek Yogurt with granola mixed in...etc...

I'm down with the Clif Bars, good call.

I do chown down on the Whole Foods whole wheat fig bars, but I worry about too much dried fruit due to sugar content. I've heard some say that that type of sugar isn't really all that bad, though, so I'm a bit lost there.

Trail mix sounds good too, I love pumpkin seeds.

    Thanks :)

Bodybuilding snacks is kind of a strange way to put it. What macronutrients do you need to fill the most? Protein and carbs? Do you need fat in them?

Protein is the hardest for me, so whey shakes are pretty standard. I'm also a big fan of beef jerky (don't fear sodium unless you're sodium sensitive). Other stuff I like that travels easy:
    - Travel-sized cottage cheese (cottage cheese is gross but with granola and peanut butter it's awesome)
    - Travel-sized greek yogurt
    - Cheese
    - Wraps and sandwiches
    - Homemade protein balls (these are awesome)
    - Homemade protein cheesecake (there's an awesome recipe floating around that makes this worth it)
    - Trail mix
    - Canned meats
    - Popcorn (I love cold popcorn)

I also think Clif bars suck major, major balls. Quest bars are a much better protein bar. I'm talking astronomically better. I'd venture far enough to say it's the best protein bar on the market. If you want something that allows you to control the ingredients then check out www.youbars.com. You make your own bars on there.

My primary goal is also to gain, in a healthy way, so I have struggled to find snacks and travel well foods that are relatively healthy. (as I'm in transit a lot and don't get many sit down lunches!) the thing I made most recently was a banana bread that I loaded up with my super gainer powder. My super gainer is about 600 cals a portion, so I added one portion to my banana bread and it pushed each 100g slice up to around 350cals, and it is small and quite light and tasty to eat (I worried it would be really dense and claggy), so if you want the recipe, Message me.

Other things, nuts of course (macadamias are pretty high, but also in fat), Peanut butter on a dark bread sandwich...dark chocolate coated almonds (I make me own and 5=about 50 cals).....

    > Beef jerky
    > Protein bars
    > Pistacios
    > Carrot/celery sticks
    > Boiled eggs

I've also been known to take chicken + veggies in a container for snacking. The only thing is having to lug the empty container around after :)

I do a lot of traveling too, dont know how big of a bag you can carry is but, I started taking Thomas mini bagels and laughing cow light cheese wedges, neither have to be refrigerated. Also pita pockets. That way if the only thing open is fast food, I will order a grilled chicken sandwich with no sauce and throw ti on the bagel or pita, so I know how many cals it has. I also take all kinds of fruit, nuts, jerky.
