I was doing pendulum lunges and whenI put my left leg back I slipped on a book my 1 year old DD had just pulled off the shelf :grumble: Initially it made me yelp but I just carried on. However, that was this morning and it is now distinctly sore when I use my knee in particular eg going up or downstairs. It ius not swollen, it is bruised but I think that was already there and I didn't actually hit it or fall on it, it was a definite twisting and that's when it hurts most eg if I turn round it ruddy kills!!

The weekend is usually the time I exercise most heaviuly as DH is about to help with the kids - but would you lay off if its at all sore? I have had issue with my knees once before and I'm very nervous of causing any lasting damage :frown:

Hi Shoppie, I twisted my knee yesterday, sounds very similar. I was advised by a sports injury guy to keep it up and rest it until it's better and to use hot/cold compresses until the swelling went down. Disclaimer: this was at a party, rather than an official consultation  . I had to drive back from Manchester tonight but have otherwise followed advice and it's not at all painful now when resting, still hurts when I use it. So annoying! :grumble: Hope yours gets better soon

A friend sent me this link: http://www.bnphysio.com/main/?p=643 which advises light exercise once the initial swelling has gone down

I'm not a doctor, but I have been known to see one every now and again...

Advil is my go to for minor sprains... Ice, Elevation, Compression and Advil- should be better in no time if it's not something more serious!

    Good Luck!
