I upped my calories from 1470 to 1570 when I started doing month2 of Insanity.
1470 is .5lb loss and I was maintaining my weight with that. It has only been a week since I upped, but I was up a pound today.
Really I am only trying to maintain my weight and think I should be able to do that at more than 1470 ( plus I eat back my calories)
So why am I gaining? Should I lower back down before i gain to much more?

It's too soon to tell. What you gained was most likely water. No way it could've been fat, you're still in a deficit. Perhaps your sodium level was too high, didn't drink enough water, etc.

I gain and hold onto a little bit (3 pounds or so ) anytime I up my workouts. Muscles holding onto water, I assume.

Don't go back down!!! You're working out really intensely and muscles hold onto water as they're being repaired - you didn't gain a pound in a week!! You would need to eat 3500cals ABOVE your maintanance level to do that....you sure as hell didn't do that by eating 1570cals (you may find you need to go higher!) and do all that working out. Anytime you adjust your cals or your activity level you need to stick to it for a minimum of 2 weeks (and I have been doing a month) to figure out what truly does and doesn't work.

    Good luck!

If you have only upped by 100, it has only eaten ino your maintenance by 100 per day.
to gain 1lb of fat you would need to eat up to maintenance and then an extra 3500.

Try weighing after a rest day - the day after a workout you will have water in your muscles as they repair.

I did do an extra hour of working out yesterday, so that could explain the pound. I didn't even think of that.
I also wasnt thinking that there really is no way I could have gained a lb of fat. I feel better now. Thank you.
