If you are wearing a weighted vest during your cardio would you change the weight in your HRM settings to reflect the weight of the vest or leave it at what your body weight is?

I wouldn't because your hr will be higher with the vest on than say if you were that weight. That's just my opinion no science to back it up

leave it as it is.. you don't change the weight because you're lifting weights, you shouldn't change it because you add a weight to your body. And there is research that shows that adding a weighted vest is *very* different from being 20 pounds heavier performing the same exercise.

how so? Just curious. It's only an 8 lbs vest.

Because if you are eight pounds heavier doing the exercise, you've had time to accumulate the extra 8 pounds.. ie, you've built the muscle and cardiovascular base to carry it.. but if you suddenly add 8 pounds, your body isn't prepared, it struggles against the weight and has to work harder to carry it.. resulting in greater heartrate, or calorie burn.

I use a HRM and don't change the weight. Your heart rate will increase from the more intense workout and will be tracked already.
