Tee Total?

I'm considering going tee total as this is the only area in which I let myself down and where my goals go out of the window. I've tried drinking in moderation but alcohol effects me so quickly I find it very difficult to gauge how fast I'm getting drunk.
I want to know if anyone else has had success by making this change. How did you cope with peer pressure? Did you find that social situations became 'boring'? Did you lose a significant amount of weight?
Thanks

I am, but it wasn't a change for me, really. I've always had very little to drink, but maybe my experiences will be of some value.
I have no trouble being in a situation where others are drinking, at a BBQ or in a pub or along those lines. I have a few Diet Cokes, and I'm never in a situation where not drinking hinders me in any way. That said, I myself have a big issue with drunk people - I don't like being around them so I don't enjoy going to bars. In any other environment, I'm absolutely fine, and I genuinely believe if I didn't have my own issues with people being drunk a bar would be no different.0 -
I quit alcohol a few years ago when I became ill and had to take meds that don't go with alcohol. This has been a handy excuse in social situations and no one has given me grief about it.
Truth is, I couldn't hold my liquor. One drink could put me under the fable. But even a small amount of alcohol made me feel awful the next day. Guess I was getting too old for the hangover.
So now I don't drink and I feel a lot better without it. I'm not slamming anyone who does drink. It just isn't for me.0 -
I stopped drinking a couple of years ago. Now I'm on meds that I can't drink with even if I wanted to. Personally I have never missed not drinking booze and love the fact I don't even have to worry about taking that into account with my calories. If and when I do go out I have a diet cola.
My housemate barely drinks now too, simply because he does'nt wanna be sat drinking on his own. If he does get in some beers there are the 0% alcohol kind which are better on the calories and he does'nt get a hangover0 -
Thanks for the responses so far. I've tried swapping every other drink for non alcoholic when out but it never works so I'm going to give abstinence a try. It'll be hard with my crowd of friends though!0
