Yoga vs stretching

i'm on day 4 of p90x and today's day is yoga, now i have tried this before and failed miserably, i know yoga is supposed to be a relaxation thing "breathe" they say, but how can I breathe when my body cannot twist and bend that way????!!!

i'm thinking of substituting X stretch for Yoga, has anyone done this?
i'm thinking maybe a month of that and on the second month try and ease into yoga.

any thoughts?

  • I struggled with it at the start too, I find that theres really good balance in the program and that the yoga routine is a nice lead in into the legs and back routine on day 5. Ive got lower back issues and I the yoga is better than any visit to the chiropractor that Ive ever had. I know that this is gonna sound corny but stick with it.
    I remember at the start I couldnt do that move where you reach behind your back and under your leg, but by the end, no problem!

    did you do the full 90 minutes of it the first time?

    update: I did it! the whole thing, it's hard but i'm glad I did it, and I feel like my posture is waaay better towards the end.
