I bought running shorts and a racerback shirt that Ive used for running. Id like to wear it tonight to the 5K but feel "overdressed' Do participants dress all differently? What should I expect? Thanks!!

Way to go, Gustergirl!! Keep that smile on your face and run like the wind. Each step you take remember how far you have come. I will be thinking about you tonight...be sure and let us know how you did.

No not at all! I think you will be suprised (at least i was! and depending on the size of your race) how many different kinds of people will be at the race. There are some serious runners who have all matching outfits (men and women) and then people who just wear grungy shorts/shirt, so I don't think you will feel overdressed or out of place at all. It's so awesome that you are running your first race - you should be so proud of yourself! I just started too and run my 3rd 5k on Saturday. Finishing is such an awesome feeling - good luck and have a great time!

Yeah, everyone dresses differently. From official looking clothes to me - old, old yoga pants and a big t-shirt! haha

The main point is you wear something.

Nothing wrong with wearing the "top shelf" stuff either. You'll see everything there. Be confident, have fun, and make some great memories.

    Good Luck!

    You Go Go Go!!!

Good luck to you in your first race...I'll be rooting for you!! :drinker: :drinker:

That's good advice from Raymond (as always) ......though running naked might be fun  or at least fun for everyone else

Running naked could be fun with your spouse chasing you .... I might just decide to stop running

I am rolling about running in your birthday suit - we always joke at home about chasing each other naked when the kids are gone - to gross them out.....such fun times!

Oh trust me, you'll see some pretty intersting stuff!

    Here's my tips:

DON'T start near the front. (You'll get trampled :grumble: )

Try and not go out too fast. (You'll realize you have when you get to the first mile marker and it'll say something like 8:45.)

Don't be concerned about your time.

Have fun! I know this may seem obvious, but you only run your first 5K once. Enjoy it!

    You'll be grand!
