So I ran my first 5k today finished in 32:02..I know not the greatest time..but for me finishing was the victory..I came in 6th in my age division and number 81 overall..not horrible. The reason that I am posting this is to let others know that they CAN do this..I still don't like running, it will never be my "thing", but i wanted to do this. These last pounds are slow to come off so i wanted to try to accomplish something new..I will never be a marathoner or triathlete..my next goal is under 30 minutes..

So please if you want to run a 5K and are scared or there is some other goal..try it..I feel better about myself that I accomplished this..and I have signed up for another race :)

Feel free to friend request me and let me know if I can help anyone in any way!

    Way to go!!

I signed up for my first 5K, and ended up walking the majority of it. I'm signed up for the same 5K this year, and plan on running the whole thing (probably with a few minutes of walking).

What training program did you use?

Again, way to go! It must be an awesome feeling:bigsmile:

Good for you! I have tried several times to jog with Couch to 5k but always give up. I don't think I could ever do this. I keep thinking if/when I lose some weight that I will try again.

Hey what I did was this program my trainer helped me with..walk 1..run 1, walk 2, run 2..etc..then every day I walked less until I was running..i also did both indoor and outdoor running to build up my lung capacity! you can totally do it!

I've just this week run 3 times on the treadmill - 5km in under 30 min's -26mins my best so far.
I really have to talk my self in to doing it...but when it's over I'm buzzing for hours....
I wouldn't say I am or ever have been a runner....I just like the thought of it! So keep trying everyone, even if it's only a few more steps run each time you do improve!
And to Angel- well done....you are brave to enter the race. Do you practice outside or on the treadmill/

Hey! I started on the treadmill because it's cold here in Ohio in the winter..but since the weather has been better I've been running the trails at the state parks :)
