two questions.
tommorrow i will impliment the tactics allen carr suggests in quitting smoking. i made this decision after finnishing his book earlier today. this week my BMI has hovered over 24.9 25.1 lol and im just feeling blooming great so i though use the goodness to feed the confidence in quitting smoking!

1. Anyone succeeded using Allen Carr's methods (smoking/weight loss)
2. i tried going cold turkey before and got fat and started smoking again (arghhh!!) although he says don't supplement cigs with food or nicotine. i get the jist but anyone else basically quit smoking and carried on down the right path to where they wanted to be.

ps i also get my new applemac tommorrow so there is everything to be excited about.
woo!!!!

I thought Allen Carr was cold turkey...he is about how you look at smoking

to not consider quitting as depriving yourself but as rewarding yourself

    right?

its all about your attitude....gotta think positive and crush the cravings

    Allen said
    dont feed your addiction

    I think that was him

    do it

    you can do it
just gotta hang with the cravings...welcome the cravings....they are signs of recovery if you look at them that way

keep your mouth real clean with regular listerine and brushing and water

    good luck

I was told no caffine for 5 days will help with the detox and withdrawl. I used that when I quit with hypnosis a few yrs back. also chew lots of sugarless gum. this last time I quit with the lozenges and they were great too.

WOW, I just realized I am 4 days away from my 6month anniversary of quiting!!!!!YOu know it's working when you forget.

Good luck in quitting! Never heard of Allen Carr or his methods of quitting. I should look into it since I'll be off the patch in 3 weeks.

If you get bad nicotine cravings, go for a walk/run. You'll forget about the craving and feel even better, especially when your able to breathe deeper! Just remember, the craving only lasts about 5 minutes. You can do it! :flowerforyou:

    I did it !!

smoked for 28 years- no weight gain no nothing - I

had to read the book twice - first time I wasn't seiked (sp) so I knew it wasn't going to work. So when I was ready again (couple of weeks) I read the book again and it worked. Not saying I had zero cravings and didn't have to tell myself how lucky I was not to be addicted to nicotine - the ugly monster

I relapsed once - after a fight with my daughter smoked 1 cig and that was it - been smoke free 5 years ( oh and before anyone asks - I did not know I had cancer when I quit - I quit first)

Good Luck to you - you really can do it

I quit 4 months ago yesterday! I did it cold turkey. The following week I joined MFP to help with me losing weight and controlling my appetite. It has worked well for me. The cravings were hard at frist but I used them to get me walking or working out for the most part. Every time I went for a walk I could feel my lungs clearing. Thats when I would give myself a pat on the back. And reminded myself all the wonderful reasons for not smoking. Congrats my friend!!!

I quit after reading his book. I had smoked for 35 years. Next month will be two years quit for me. My two neighbors also quit after I had them read it. Good luck!!:flowerforyou:
