staying in hotels for work - food and exercise

Wasn't really sure where to post this one......but I have just won a contract with a new customer which means I'm going to have to stay away from home a fair bit and have meals with the team.
I did this once already and we all met for breakfast in the hotel, there wasn't really much I could eat and I ended up having a bowl of oats with milk (sooooo boring) and a mueller light yoghurt (which I seem to remember was full of aspartame and not something I would usually choose)
Then at lunch there wasn't much choice, and again for dinner at the hotel not much I could choose. One night we went out to eat and it wasn't all that healthy.
So I have two issues here:
1 - I have several food intolorances and also I am veggie so I am fairly limited to what I can have - and I also want to stay within my MFP goals
2 - The customer picks up all my food bills on his credit card so I don't feel like I can be too picky and start going off to eat on my own.
Shall I just take my own home made muesli and eat it in the hotel breakfast room and just not care what the others think? I could always take my own lunch too but it's hard when there isn't a fridge to keep things in.
I am hoping I should still be able to exercise in one way or another in the evening because two of the guys on the team went out for a run before dinner last time so I can either do that or go find a pool or go for a walk.
I suppose when I get to know the team I can do my own thing a bit more. I am probably making an issue out of something that really will be fine, but was just wondering if there are others in this situation and what things you do to try and stick to your usual routines?
I just don't want to look picky or fussy in front of people but I don't want to eat things I shoulnd't and hate to mess up my routine! (Though I am grateful for the work of course.)
oh forgot to say as well that because there isn't a fridge I can't take milk for protein shakes, should I make some protein bars to take?

One time long ago I was a road warrior. My breakfast usually consisted of cereal/low-fat milk, fruit, yogurt. There are usually some decent choices with the breakfast provided. For lunch I would do salads, grilled chicken, veggies, etc. You can usually eat decent enough- you just have to know what to order. Most restaurants have these types of options.
I got sick of eating out, so I would actually "cook" in my room a lot. Food steamers and George Forman grills are great for steamed veggies/proteins. The grill is great for chicken/lean beef, etc. They now have steamer veggies frozen all ready for the microwave if your room has one. I would just stop at the grocery store at the end of the day on almost a daily basis for dinner items that night.0 -
Thank you for the suggestions :-)
The hotel I am gunna be staying a lot doesn't have anything at all in the room by way of preparing food or cooking it, I guess I could pick up salady stuff and add protein to it0 -
Hi,
If you choose to bring your meals, I think your team will understand since you have some food intolerances. As for working you, pool sounds like a good idea; Also if you get wireless in your room and have netflix, they have good 10min solutions workouts if you are pressed for time.
Good luck!0
