Calorie limit questions

MFP has my calorie limit at 2060. My Dr. wants it at 1976. The past two days I have been eating about 1650. I just have not had an appetite lately. I think it may be because the Dr. put me on medication to control my hormone levels. Also, I have over 100 lbs. to lose but I do not want to harm my body. When I finally lose the hundred pounds i think my calorie limit will be more like 1550. Is eating under my calorie limit harming me?

Keep going for a little while to see if you average out at about 1600, if so maybe add a sandwich or something health into your day somewhere. But 300calories short is probably not doing you major harm, so long as you're not feeling drained and tired, your body is good at telling you what's right and wrong.

You can edit the goal manually - click the 'My Home tab' then the 'Goals' in the blue bar and 'Change Goals'. In there you can put 1976 as your doctor has recommended. Just make sure you're not eating below your BMR (google it) and you'll be fine - I think your calorie limit will be more than 1550, but it depends on your height and activity levels then. Good luck! :D

Frankly the less than 100 calorie difference between what your doctor recommended and MFP is negligible. As for eating well below your calorie goal, since you have a lot to lose it won't hurt in the short term, but long term it might.
