Desperate. I need help!

I've been slacking. My daughter became sick then was in Childrens hospital for weeks and had numerous surgeries. She is finally home and it's time to get back on track! While at the hospital, I ate whatever visitors brought me so usually macdonalds, pizza, etc bc I didn't leave her side at all.
I started back to my job today coaching gymnastics and cheerleading, so that'll help with my calorie burns, plus along with the job I also get a full YMCA membership for free, so I'm going to sneak in workouts during my breaks.
I need help with food though! I have a panic disorder so eating is a big problem for me. For some reason anything that may make someone pass out causes me to panic, and people pass out from not eating enough. So whenever I find myself starting to panic, I reach for a snack high in sugar, same with if I start to feel hungry at all. At the place I am with my panic disorder at this point, I cannot handle going to a therapist office because talking about it makes me panic. I am on numerous medicines so hopefully soon I will be able to go to a therapist:) it also makes it hard to workout. I get really bad headaches when I do cardio and have bad vertigo if I use cardio machines, all things that make me panic. I want to lose the weight! I want to be healthy! I am at the point of trying unhealthy ways of losing weight, and I know how bad that would be. PLEASE HELP!!!

I don't know how long you have been on medications, but hopefully they will begin to take effect and you can get to a therapist. You could probably benefit from some cognitive therapy (learning techniques to head off the panic attacks). At this point I would try not to stress yourself out more with the weight issues; your top priority is getting the panic under control.
Also, food does not have to be high in sugar to prevent passing out. If you feel more comfortable eating when you start to feel a certain way, just make sure you have healthy foods with you at all times.0 -
Unfortunately, I've been on the medicines for quite a while:( They've made it so I can work and occasionally go to the store, but I cant' talk about panic attacks with having one:(
I keep telling myself when I feel like that to eat something like fruit bc it has sugar in it, or something of that sort, but my mind overrules it:(0 -
So how are you going to get yourself to WW meetings (per your OTHER post)?0

Actually foods high in sugar make matters worse because you to through peaks and crashes. If you want to snack, start looking at healthy, high protein, medium complex carbohydrate options. Also, lay off the coffee, and stop making excuses. I'm sorry that you just went through a terrible time with your daughter, re-group and take control of your situation . . . you sound like your in the middle of a serious spiral and a bit out of control. Inhale, exhale, repeat, until you clear your mind and can think. Write down a list of baby steps you need to take, break down the situation into more manageable pieces. If you look at a situation as a whole it can be rather daunting, but if you break it down into smaller units you can handle it better. For example:
1) add 30 minutes of an activity where you're constantly moving and breaking a sweat 3 times a week (to be adjusted to longer, or more sessions at a later date)
2) make better snacking decisions (cutting back on sweets and candies). If you're that concerned about sugars start by making this a piece of fruit, and then make another adjustment to it at a later date.
3) work your way through each meal every day one at a time over x# of week period until your meals are revamped.
4) chillax0 -
If you don't like cardio machines how about walking outside or maybe an indoor track?
Also it takes A LOT of not eating to make yourself pass out. Trust your body and know that you have eaten enough to be ok.0 -
Do you have a history of passing out? Have you ever passed out from malnourishment? Have you ever known anyone do pass out from malnourishment?0

I have layed of caffeine for the most part, but I do drink 2 cans of pop a day still with my medicines bc it helps them kick in faster, so on days where I have to get up and go I drink it, but I"m trying to work on getting up earlier to take them, so I can't need the caffeine to get them to work faster, because I know it makes my anxiety worse some days.
If anyone has ideas of snack foods that will make me full longer and be healthy, please let me know! And any soft snacks would be awesome as I am having mouth surgery in a few weeks so I don't want to end up eating mashed potatoes, etc all the time but I also don't want to drink purrees lol.
Thank you so much for your reply!0 -

You're trolling.
If you read through these, you will see where I said I have trouble with the therapy idea for now bc I cannot talk about the panic disorder without panicking yet. That's what I'm still working on. Going to WW meetings wouldn't mean talking about having a panic disorder.0
