I agree....usually when we eat "crappy" that involves obscene amounts of sodium and less water which can make you retain a bunch of water. Its not unusual for me to see up to a 6 pound difference over an "off" weekend.

I have done that, but if you really stick to counting your calories closely it will come off.

    1 pound = 3500 calories

    4 pounds = 14000 calories

That means you would have had to have eaten 14000 calories PAST maintenance to gain 4lbs.

4 lbs is equivalent to 14,000 calories which is roughly like eating

    17.2 sticks of butter
    or
6.5 half gallon containers of cookies and cream ice creem
    or
    66.6 cookies from subway

It depends on if you are weighing at the same time every day on an empty stomach, just drink a big glass of water and reweigh and you will see what looks like a gain but is not. Are you using the same scale everyday, are you wearing the same clothes every time. the last time you went to the bathroom?

I gained 5 over Easter weekend (mmm chocolate bunnies and Sunday brunch) it is really just an illusion caused by water and just having more volume of stuff in your gut. If you're back on track it will come off over the course of a couple days plus you'll likely lose your weekly weight as normal.

This. We don't realize how much water weight really affects us. Just stick to your plan from here on out and know it's ok to have "off"days once in awhile.
