Weight gain after a night of boozing?

Anyone else notice immediate weight gain after drinking?

Typically, I am a red wine drinker - sometimes I have one or two glasses per day after work with dinner, other times I will go a week or more without drinking at all, it just depends on how stressed I'm feeling or how many happy hours I end up going to. So Saturday night, I went out on the town and it was HAMMERTIME. I actually drank so much I blacked out! That hasn't happened to me in years (I learned my lesson in my early 20's). I guess not eating much in order to allocate calories to alcohol didn't do me any favors.

I started off pre-gaming at home and had one vodka (probably double vodka) with Fanta Orange soda (don't judge, it was free). Next stop, a friend's house party, where I had one vodka and grapefruit juice. First bar, I just drank water, like a good little girl. Second bar, extra dirty vodka martini, like a very bad girl. The third bar is where things start to go black. I know my friends brought me at least one shot that tasted like grape yumminess. I had some sort of vodka soda drink as well. I must have drank the UV Cake mini vodka bottle that I scored from the booze pinata at the house party, because it wasn't in my purse the morning after. There may have been more drinks and more bars as well, but I will never remember what they were and I'm kind of too embarrassed to ask my friend what the hell happened.

My friend drove me home and I woke up Sunday morning feeling like I had sweaters on my teeth and wondering if I needed to apologize to anyone for misbehaving the night before. I weighed myself, and I was down one pound from the previous day. Not exactly surprising, since I was dehydrated as hell. I immediately drove to McDonald's for my standard hangover cure, a #2 (with no meat on the cheeseburgers) and a regular coke. I was so wrecked that I spent the rest of the entire day either in bed or on the couch feeling like I might die. I had brown rice and Trader Joe's Channa Masala for dinner, and that was about it.

Today, I'm up almost 2 full pounds from yesterday! Could one night of boozing and one McD's meal really do that?? I'm so discouraged!!!

well i just posted this same type of question because i drank quite a bit of wine saturday night and ate bad. my scale showed a 4 pound gain. a few said its probably alot of water gain because we would have had to comsume quite a bit to have that much gain just get back on track and it will come back off. good luck

Sorry - I guess I should have browsed the forums a bit more closely to avoid redundancy. I'm hoping it's water...I did have a lot of sodium yesterday.

I'm recovering from walking pneumonia so I haven't been able to work out for a few weeks, hence calorie counting has been my only weight loss weapon. I'm going to try to go for a short brisk walk tonight and see if my lungs can take it. Good luck to you too!
