How to incorporate weights in my workouts? Help

My kid brother moved into a tiny house and had no room for his weight bench. I offered to keep it here and keep the dust off of it. I have a few questions on how to get started. I have been trying to do cardio about 4 times a week minimum, and I really want to tone my arms and shoulders for summer. Am I supposed to alternate cardio and lift days or can I do them both on the same days? I noticed that if I enter strength training, it doesn't list any calories burned. Do I need to modify my diet to lift!? (I usually try to eat back my calories burned since I am on a 1200 cal plan) I am extremely new to this healthy lifestyle and any help is much appreciated!
