Does it make much of a difference if a workout is before or after a big meal? I don't mean right after; I realize that could make you sick.

Sometimes I will splurge on a meal but offset it with a harder workout. But I'm wondering if that extra long workout should take place before the splurge of after (within 12 hours)? As it is now my 'guilty pleasure' meals usually are a lunchtime reward I've given myself because the previous nights' workout was extra intense. But it's occuring to me that maybe I've got the order reversed. Something about the Krebs Cycle & how it will burn much of the recently consumed cals first, then the body will burn fat???

Any ideas?

It is best to eat AFTER a work out. After you work out, your body is still burning calories for about an hour or so (not sure on the time), so you would still be burning calories as you eat. Hope this helps!

there is definitely a "windows" after a workout where fdood is digested with max efficiency.
If you are a runner, read this article:

if you are doing weight training - I don't have a specific article in mind at this right moment, but I am sure something similar exists. I will find it later...

thanks for the link. That was a good article on food choices. I would have liked to see a little more on eating schedules, but I understand there are space limitations.

Overall, one of the better nutrition/exercise articles I have read.
