I have been having trouble with my knees. Apparently they didn't approve of the 1 1/2 hr zumba/turbo kick class I did on Friday and one of them has been swollen ever since. Went to the doc today and he tells me I have Osteoarthritis. So I still need to loose weight (about 20 more lbs). What kind of exercises can I do now? Is it still ok for me to do the zumba and turbo kick? I'm kinda crushed. :(

Ask your doctor. He's the professional.

I couldn't see my regular doctor today. She was busy so I saw a different one. Didn't really like him much. I have a call in to my PCP who just happens to be a sports medicine doctor. I asked if she could look over my chart and let me know if she thought I needed anything further or a follow up. I'll ask about the exercises when they call me back. I was just hoping someone in here has the same problem and could give me some ideas about what they do.

I was having trouble with my knees at first and I started taking glucosamine with chondroitin. My husband who has bad knees swears by it, and my dog that also has hip displasia and arthritis also takes it she does great too. I takes about 4 weeks to kick in fully. Not sure if it will help you or not

Go see a Sports Medicine doctor.
  • Swimming is a great fat-burning exericse and it's very easy on your joints. Something to consider while your knees are recovering.

Thank you! I think when our pool opens up at the gym I will do some water aerobics. I haven't heard from the doctor yet so I'll just take it easy and continue what I'm doing until I can't do it anymore. I am drinking joint juice which is glucosomine and conjointen (misspelled). Guess we'll see how it turns out. lol
