Anyone interested in a clothing swap?

I was not sure what forum to post this in...

Yesterday, I was going through my closet, and pulled out a stack of jeans that had been tucked away for a while. I pulled them on and they fit! :drinker:

But that means that some of my favorite jeans and tops are getting too big (again :drinker: ) but the thing is, I can't afford to keep buying new clothes! I was wondering if anyone wanted to get something going where you can "donate" clothes to other users? For instance, I have 2 pair of Lane Bryant Right Fit jeans (yellow, size 3...if you know these jeans, you'll know how big a 3 is, and you'll also know that these are the best jeans ever), perfectly good jeans, nothing at all wrong with them aside from they are just too big. Maybe someone would like them and I would donate it to them. In turn, if someone here has Right Fit yellow size 2 jeans (which is what I am probably about to go and buy) that are too big on them now, that person could donate them to me. Kind of like a paying it forward system. I'm not looking for payment or to make money, I am just looking for jeans that fit! And I'd like to be able to help someone else out that could really use some new (well, new to them) jeans without them having to plop down $50! Doesn't have to be just specifically Lane Bryant jeans, it can be any type of jeans or nice top, anything in good, CLEAN condition that someone would like. Maybe we can post a want list to see if any of us have what that person is looking for and we can contact each other via private message and work things out. The person doing the sending will pay the shipping, because they in return will get clothes from someone else. Hopefully everyone will be honest and hold up their end, which is sending clothes to someone else.

Does this make sense? In my head it does.

I think this is a GREAT idea. My clothes haven't "grown" to the point where they're too big yet :blushing: but I'd love to be included for when they do. Current size is a 14.

Yeah, sort of! And we can write notes when we ship the item, telling where these jeans have been. "These jeans went to the Eiffel Tower!"

See, and I'll be going into 14's. I'd give away my 16's, get your 14's and someone who's outgrowing their 12's can donate to you!

Cool but how would we ship them and who would pay? And what limitation is terms of distance? I'm in Barrie, On, Canada. I just gave away all my loose clothes but would definietly be interested once my size 12's become too big.

I guess it'd be as far as you're willing to send, and we just ship them ground, or whatever's cheapest. I think the person sending the clothes should pay the shipping, so that way you're not waiting for money from someone and then if the person you sent money to disappears you're not feeling ripped off. And of course, if someone abuses the honor system, we report them here, by name, so we know not to donate to them.

I also think the sender should pay shipping also because it'll come back to you, like good karma. Someone will send you free clothes! If you get two items from someone, you send two items to someone. Item for item, you know?

Maybe, if the person has a digital camera and can take pictures of the clothes that they are willing to send, they can post pictures here and the first person to claim it, gets it!

Any input is very welcome! Let's get the kinks worked out and get some new clothes!

I would love to be in on this! I do have a question though: I know we have some people that are in different countries. I'm in the US and others are in the UK and Canada. I believe the sizing is quite different.

Here is a site that gives a chart of the differences: http://www.usatourist.com/english/tips/Womens-Sizes.html

And here is another where you can convert sizes: http://www.onlineconversion.com/clothing_womens.htm

I just re-read what I wrote and wanted to clarify that the jeans are not yellow, that's the category that Lane Bryant uses! There's Right Fit Yellow, Red and Blue. Just didn't want someone to think I was going around with yellow jeans!

Hmm, I didn't think of the sizing differences. Maybe if someone is okay with swpping with someone outside of their country, they should go for it! If not, that's fine too.

I have really nice dress blouses. XL, XXL, 14/16, 16/18. I also have some pretty nice jeans (Avenue) and other slacks (Old Navy) The jeans and slacks run around 16-20. Sweaters, too!

I'm so excited! It's like yard-saleing without leaving home!
