Itchy Skin While Running

I have been running since I started my weight loss journey in January of 2011. I am up to 4 miles - 3 times a week with other exercises between that. The last 2 times I have run, by the end of the 4 miles my skin is extremely itchy. I have jumped in the shower right away and it goes away while I am in the shower and for about 5 minutes after but it comes right back. It lasts for 2 to 3 hours. It is extremely bothersome and uncomfortable until it goes away. It is mainly on my arms, hands, legs and face. I googled some things last night and it said to take Benadryl for it. I took some and it went away about 30 to 45 minutes later.
I ran last Thursday and got it. However I worked out on the elliptical on Friday and Saturday because it was raining. Last night (Monday) I ran outside and got it again.
Does anyone else have this problem or know what it is?

YES! I have that problem, too. I find it is worse when I am wearing something loose - even if it is a tech-t. But if I wear skin-tight on top that helps. Not that I like doing that. Eek.
It might be allergies, I don't know. But I have come home with big red scratch marks all over my torso just from scratching through my clothes. So, you're not alone, but I don't exactly know the cause or a solution.0 -
It's because of sweat. The salt is an irritant. It may be annoying, but it's nothing to worry about0

Any little red bumps? Could be heat rash, I get it when my temp goes way up (usually when running or on a cross trainer). Not too much can be done about it. And it itches like crazy0

I have not gotten little red bumps, but the heat and body temp thing could be a reason. The weather had started to get warmer in Ohio and last night I think it was close to 80 when I ran. 80 seems hot now but will be cool in a few months0
