What do you say to a compliment?

I keep getting "wow you look great" "wow you have lost a LOT of weight" (I object, it wasn't THAT much), and similar compliments and every time I get so awkward I don't know what to say aside from a bashful "thanks" I feel awkward, but I just have no clue what to say about it to acquaintances that are thin and obviously not looking for advice. So what do you guys say?

I just thank them politely and then tell them how much better I feel too -if its someone I know, i'll tell them how i have more energy, the chronic headaches are gone, and only a few migraines since I started working out again! That way the focus is on the health benefits and not just 'looks' and congrats to you on your weightloss :flowerforyou:

I just say thank you and smile as big a smile as I want to. I get a little embarrassed because I know I haven't done anything special or difficult to lose the weight, but it still feels good to be noticed in that positive way.

I used to deflect them or say something self-deprecating. Now I just say, Thanks so much!! I've been working really hard." :flowerforyou:

With a straight face, make up a crazy diet and then wait to see how fast it spreads through the office (or social circle). Like this:

"Thanks! I did the Lima Bean diet. All I have eaten for the past few weeks is pureed lima beans in cranberry juice. It is working like a charm!"

Unless they're asking me how did I do it, I don't say anything more than a "thank you"

I have the opposite problem, I think... I lost about 20 pounds since I started dieting, and barely anyone notices (in fact, apart from my boyfriend, only 1 person has commented). :( Be happy about compliments, I'd say!

I always say "thanks for noticing, I've been trying really hard" Everyone I know, knows I have been struggling with my weight for a long time so I'm just really happy when they notice it. If they seem futher interested I tell them about MFP.
