Hi everyone, or anyone...

I am wondering if you know of a holistic/food etc that will help will cold sores (gross, I know). At the moment I have two, and they hurt so bad....even worse, Im getting married in a little over a month and I am afraid they will pop up again then, due to heavy stress....are there any foods I should eat and/or avoid to help with the severity or occurrence? ! Thanks all!

Sarah

You could try L-lysine, and amino acid. It may shorten the duration of the outbreak and prevent new ones. I've used it, and I feel that it's effective. Some studies support the conclusion that it reduces the frequency of outbreaks. The data on it shortening the duration isn't as convincing. There is a good summary on using it here (with doses): http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/lysine-000312.htm

Good luck :). Cold sores are awful, and they always happen at the absolute least convenient times.

I have tried everything and nothing has helped. Then a few months ago I realized I could get a prescription from my doctor. Valtrex, I take it as soon as I start to feel that tingle or see a little bubble. And it stops it right then. Its the best thing I've done, to have a bottle on hand. Definately do that.
