I would like to know as well. Acronyms are thrown around willy-nilly making some of us feel like dummies. TDEE is one I haven't figured out for myself yet. It's probably something we know but stands for a silly way of saying it.
Edit: Thanks neo.0 -
I've seen all of the acronyms etc, and I've read a little bit about them, but I think I'm just going to stick to my daily limit that MFP spits out for me at the moment. I find it all a little overwhelming.0

Dan explains stuff pretty well here:

^^ THIS!!!!!!!
There are eleventy-seven different ways to figure out caloric needs and everyone thinks their way is best.
Why would you not do research online (GOOGLE is your friend) then set your Goals here and use this site as it is intended to be used?
This site tool works if you are honest and not too agressive. This isn't rocket surgery.0 -
@cmriverside, because there are eleventy-seven different ways to figure out your caloric needs. I decided to use this as a starting point. I'm here to learn, not become a rocket surgeon. Although rocket science, was the term I think you were gunning for.0

TDEE in a nutshell can be figured out by multiplying your weight in lbs x 15.
To lose weight, subtract 20-35% off your TDEE.
A target weight loss per week to aim for would be your weight in lbs x 1%
Like with everything else, including MFP, these are just estimations.
Follow whatever caloric estimate you want and do it consistently for about 3 weeks.
Depending on results, adjust accordingly. It's not rocket science.0 -
