    chicken
    potatoes
    carrots
    turnip greens / whatever's cheap
    dry beans
    canned tomatoes
    egg noodles
    sliced turkey...

My pantry faves are usually at one extreme or the other when it comes to effort and nutrition. Baking powder and yeast sit next to obligatory college staples like spaghettios (and yes, ramen). I have the food budget of an undergrad because I am one and try to make the best of it.

Boneless & Skinless Chicken Breast (18 lbs / week. 10.5 for me alone, yay meat)
97% lean ground sirloin 1 lb
    Dry roasted almonds 1 lb
    Fresh spinach 3 lbs
    12 Chobani's
    2 loafs 45 cal bread
    PB2
    2 lbs mixed frozen veggies
    60 ozs brocolli & cauliflower
    2 lbs pasta
    Whey Protein (2 lbs)
Quaker Oats, old school rolled oats tub (lasts 3 weeks @ 1/2 cup a day)
No sugar added ice cream 1 gallon
    Frozen potato O'Brien 2 bags
2 6-packs of sugar free jello pudding

The above is my typical weekly consumption, the wife and kids are a different story. I'm also eating 3000-3100 cals daily to maintain so maybe I'm a bad example. When I was on 1200 cals a day (for 7 months) the menu was the same, just a lot less of it!

Lots of veggies. Nothing really in particular, just whatever looks good and whatever is on sale at Sprouts.
    Onions
    Garlic
    Mixed greens for salads
    Oranges
    Bananas
    Lemons (for my salads)
Canned tomatoes (for spaghetti sauce, salsa and chili)
    Brown rice
    Steel-cut oatmeal
Pinto beans (I try to eat a lot of beans for fiber)
Skinless boneless chicken breast and thighs (thigh meat is best for chicken fajitas)
Lean meats (flank steak, sirloin steaks)
    Turkey bacon
    Eggs
    Almond milk
Cow's milk (for my brother. He drinks a gallon every two days all by himself)
    Fiber One cereal
Chobani yogurts with fruit (lots of protein)
    Santa Fe whole wheat tortillas
Nature's Own whole wheat hamburger buns (lots of wheat and has some vinegar, which is good for me since I'm trying to eat low glycemic)
    Olive oil and canola oil
