Hi Everyone,

I joined MFP in March 2011 and lost about 30 lbs initially. I was feeling great, but then I went on vacation in November, fell off the wagon, and haven't really been able to get back on and STAY ON. Now I've decided that enough is enough (especially after gaining back so much weight) and I really want to slim down and tone up before Summer is here. My ultimate goal is to lose about 50-60 lbs by my 23rd birthday in October.

I want to start lifting weights because I know when I did before, I used to lose sometimes up to 8 lbs in a week (I'm assuming because your body continously burns calories when you have muscle). However, I am a beginner so I was wondering if anyone could give me any good tips/advice on weight training and also some good, effective exercises I could do to see optimal results!

Thank you :)

I would grab the book New Rules of Lifting for Women. Tons of great info and routines! Don't be intimidated by it it is for beginners and experts...or go to bodybuilding.com they also have great tips and routines. I like the book better though, it's pretty easy to follow and gives great results as long as you put the effort in! Good luck!
