Anyone have hip impingement surgery?

Got my arthogram results back and there was no labral tear, which is good.

However, the sports medicine orthpedic doctor thinks my source of pain is comming from a hump on the ball of my legbone that is catching on the ring of cartlidge between the the ball and the socket of my hip.

So we've set up an appointment to see a surgeon in a couple weeks to see what he thinks. Sounds like they want to simply grind off the hump to make the ball round.

Anyone have this type of arthoscopic surgery before? I've been told I'd be crutches on 6 weeks and 4-6 months for recovery. So it's a pretty big deal despite being a relativly minor problem.

Just wondering what timeframe is really like - can you be alone the first couple days, can you cheat with the crutches if you need to get beer from the fridge, can you get out and live life a little bit those first few weeks, how long does the pain from the procedure last / intensity?

Thanks

I've had this surgery. Arthroscopic on left hip and full open surgery on right hip. Arthroscopic is a breeze in comparison to open but the open surgery has given me a far better result. Deffo do not cheat on the crutches.

My profile pic is from my open surgery.
