BIG TOE PAIN HELP!!!

After getting home from work yesterday, I did some work around the house. Light, easy stuff like dishes and laundry. After that I was sitting on the couch and fell asleep for like an hour. When I woke up I tried to stand up and nearly fell to the floor in pain. The muscles above and below my left big toe hurt like hell. My foot was fine all day yesterday and before my little nap, but it was excruciating after. I didn't do anything I can think of like stubbing my toe or dropping anything on it. The only thing out of the norm was on Sunday night a softball league started up and I played a game. I didn't do anything there that injured myself, and if I did I would think I would have felt something during the day yesterday. Today it hurts so much I can barely walk. It is a little better than last night. Last night I couldn't really move my toe up or down without severe pain. Today, I can move it down pretty well but no dice on moving up.

Anyone have a clue what's going on an how to make it stop?

Gout was what I was thinking too. If you've never had it before, it comes on suddenly - if you have had it before, you start to notice the signs, at least my DH does after his 15+ bout of it.

It gets worse if untreated, will become very swollen and hot to the touch.

DH takes Celery Seed, and 100% Tart Cherry Juice to help lessen the effects or to ward it off. If you have never had it - you really need a medical diagnosis, it means something isn't working correctly, diet modifications and a blood work to test your uric acid levels.

It could also be a joint injury if it doesn't get any worse, rest a few days, if not better, go see a foot dr.
