I'm quitting diet coke and have cut down from a 4 can a day habit to one can per day. By the weekend I'll be off it for good. Two things Ive noticed, my one can a day really doesnt taste that good anymore and I'm only drinking it to ween myself and not get headaches. Second thing... my constant hunger has all but dissappeared! I dont feel famished anymore like I always have and its been a lot easier for me to control my portions and snacks which is a good thing for weight loss. Anxious to see what the scale shows in a couple weeks.

Thanks for the positive post! I'm addicted to Diet Coke and have tried to wean myself off for years. It's not easy -- congratulations on your achievement! Now it's my turn. Wish me luck!!

There have been studies shown that drinking diet drinks actually make you eat more! Supposedly it deals with the brain. The brain associates sweet things with calories, and when you drink a diet soda you aren't getting calories so you get hungry. If that makes any sense the way i explained it lol.

But there are still studies being done so it's not all set in stone.

I've found by eliminating a can a week its been easier than cold turkey.. and advil helps with the headaches. I've found I sleep better and I have more energy at night because I'm not crashing from my daily caffeine. Good luck!!

I heard rumors artificial sweeteners have a chemical that enhances appetite not found in regular sugar. I can't substantiate, so take me with a grain of salt, but it's an interesting thought.

Yeah, i think its all the carbonation that makes you hungry becaue you have all this growling and movement going on in your stomache. Thats my dime store diagnosis....
