How do I know how many calories I should be eating a day to lose weight? I'm at 1200 calories a day, and I almost always go over.
Please help!

Here's a simple calculation.
Estimated TDEE = Multiply your weight in lbs x 15.
To lose weight = Subtract 20-35%
Follow plan for 3 weeks.
Adjust accordingly.
Example:
Assuming you're 140 lbs.
Estimated TDEE = 140 x 15 = 2100
20% of 2100 = 420 --> 2100-420=1680
35% of 2100 = 735 --> 2100-735=1365
In this example to lose weight, eat between 1400-1700 calories. Follow plan for 3 weeks. Adjust accordingly.0 -

Me too!!!!! I have been eating all healthy stuff, but yet without excercise I always go over! Sticking to 1200 is pretty hard for me! I did see a thread on here last week with people saying that they upped their calories a bit, and wound up losing weight!
I am glad that you posted this, because I am in the same boat as you!0 -
I calculated the maintenance calories needed to maintain my ideal weight and use that as my daily calorie target. I figured by the time I get to that weight, I will be quite used to that number of calories. I suppose once I get close, I will have to make some small adjustments, but for now it is working.0
