1,050 calories per day.... is that right?

In order for me to lose 1 lb per week, according to the goal calculator, I have to set my cal limit to 1,050 for a daily defect of 520 calories. I understand that there are 35,000 calories in a pound of fat, but 1050 sounds so low! It seems that this would lead to loss of muscle if I don't have that set high enough. Anyone know how to calculate how much protein you need to maintain muscle? Am I looking at this from the wrong angle?

It's predicting you use 1570 cals per day, based on what you told it, then the 520 is there to achieve the weight loss you also gave it hence the 1050 which it will raise to 1200 minimum as your goal.
Around 1g of protein per day per kg of fat free weight would be a starting point - say 50g which is only 200 cals or 20% of above, 75g would be 30% of target cals.0 -
At 7 pounds from your goal weight, one pound a week is too ambitious of a goal. Aim for a half pound a week.0

There is 3,500 calories in a pound of fat, not 35,000 ... if that were true, I think I would cry and curl up in the corner, wondering how I got fat and thinking of all the weeks I'd have to spend on the elliptical to even lose a pound.
LorinaLynn is right, if you only have 7lbs to go, you should try losing .5. You are right about losing muscle at such a severe calorie deficit. Do not eat below your BMR.0 -

That's seems low even by MFP standards. How much do you weigh?0
