The mom of one of my students came to pick up his homework today after school. She told me their vacation was "wonderful", but her son wouldn't stop talking about "all the bad food we were eating". He kept commenting on the saturated fat, caloric content and amount of sodium in some of the fast food items they were thinking of buying. He would say things like "Mom, did you know there is practically an entire day's worth of calories in that ONE sandwich?" and "That's more than 50% of your total sodium intake for ONE day!"

I couldn't be more proud. These sixth graders are LISTENING! How cool is that??

    awesome!

my 13 year old brother scrutinzed a sandwich i had one day and said, "do you know how much saturated fat is in that, and do you know how many people that's supposed to feed??"

it's great knowing kids are more aware of what they're putting into their mouths.
