I play softball, and even running the bases hurts like a mother! Walking the treadmill does, too! My shins feel like their bruised to the touch at times. I'd love to try running but the pain sucks. Any suggestions on stretches and/or better running shoes (kinda stuck with my cleats for softball).

  • Sure...... balance yourself against a chair or counter and raise yourself on the balls of your feet. Hold this for ten seconds.Do alternate between both legs for a sequence of 6-8 each time...... may take some time. I have been fortunate to never had them but see many who do.

Ice them every day. I've had them and I don't envy you. The icing will help them to heal quickly. But if you're active, it will take some time to get rid of them for good. In the meantime, the stretch I was advised to do is a calf stretch, but with a bent knee. So, if normally, you take a big step forward and push your back heel down, to the same thing, but keep a good bend in your back knee.
