Calories burned during workout

Is it suggested that you eat back the calories you burn during your workouts each day?

As long as you are getting enough calories throughout the day to fuel your body it doesn't matter. If you're trying to lose weight, the point of exercising is to burn calories, so why cancel out the work you did?
  • Somtimes I do sometimes I don't. I try not to but if I do I try not to sweat it and do better next time. I think it's better to workout and eat back the calories than to not workout.

There's a bit of wiggle room there. Your body doesn't automatically reset at midnight, which is why a good bunch of MFPers choose to look at their overall weekly numbers, instead of day to day.
Also, although eating calories back is important to your health, keep in mind that most machines at the gym and the MPF database are quite generous with their burned estimates. I shoot for between 60% and 80% of calories burned to be eaten back.
If you choose to not eat your exercise calories back, make sure to adjust your goals accordingly. It doesn't do any good to be eating at a 500 calorie deficient, and burn 500 as well. For most body types, that is more than can be handled.
    Good luck with your journey!
