Torn Posterior Tibial Tendon

I was wondering if anybody else has suffered with this and if so how long did it take to heal. I injured my foot Aug 2011 and hospital diagnoised soft tissue damaged and GP sent me for physio. March 2012 told by physio that they could no longer help me and could not understand whilst I was still in pain for "ligament damage", anyway went and saw GP and he referred to me a foot specialist who yesterday diagnosed me with the above. I now have to have another lot of physio as the previous physio was working on the wrong part of the foot. I have been told I am not allowed to do running, high impact or anything that puts pressure on my arch as I could rupture the tendon. I am allowed to walk slowly on the tredmill and use the bike but that is about it. If the physio does not work then I will have to have a scan and possibly surgery.
I feel that I have wasted 6 months on physio for nothing. Is there any light at the end of this tunnel?
