I'm new to MFP and I'm wondering how long it took you to lose your first 10 lbs? I'm expecting 6-8 weeks. Is that reasonable?

It took me 3-4 weeks. I set my dietary restrictions to lose 2.5 lbs/week and was very precise with my food weights and intake. I started at 255lbs and am 5'9"-ish.

depends on what you're working with as your starting weight (and height). metabolism rate plays a part too. and then how often you exercise and what you're doing. let's just say some people lose 10 # in a jiffy here and others (like me) have been struggling to shed them! at one point i was 10# under and now i'm back to 6# under. you have to want it badly, i've been learning...

By the third week, I had lost 9.8lbs, by the fourth week I had lost a total of 11.8lbs.

The weightloss then slows down because quite a lot of weight comes off during the first week or two for many people, due to waterweight etc.

My first 10 lbs seemed to fly off. Which was really awesome and encouraging, but now that I'm at a slower loss rate it's a bit frustrating. I'd say my first 10 lbs came off in about 5 or 6 weeks.

It will depend on how much you need to lose. I still haven't hit 10 lbs and I'm somewhere around 2.5 months but I have lost inches, gained muscle and don't have very much to lose.
