The best time to drink a protein shake?? Drink it has a meal or a snack or after you workout?

Good question. I would think most would probably say after but I always drink mine as a meal and before I work out. I always want my muscles saturated in protein at all times.

    Example:
    breakfast
pre protein shake work out #1(cardio)
    Lunch
Pre protein shake work out #2(strength training)
    Snack
    Dinner
Night time protein shake to recover from work outs while I sleep.

Theres not enough food spaces so I just add my snack and input it in as lunch.

Dunno thats how I have been doing it. I am 6'1 about 230+lbs at 12%bf and that works for me.

I've always read that the best time to get some protein is right after your workout, as your muscles need it to repair themselves.

Provided you're getting in adequate protein intake over the course of a day, it's not going to matter.

Ok thanks I bought some protein shakes that my sister recommend for me and I like them. So I was just wondering when is it the best time for them she's grabs them in the mornings cause it faster she's always busy.

you have a 2 hour window post excercise called the 'open window' when the the body is need of nutrients and will consume as much as possible. If you have craving high sugary things this is when you would take it as the body will use that during recovery. This goes the same for protein shakes as well. So if you are decideding pre or post, it would be post. As pre would comsume the protein as energy as body doesn't have to break down glycogen for glucose as it 'free'

But as a previous post says, as long as you are consuming throughout the day it doesn't matter too much along with sugars as well.

This! Nutritional timing has been disproved and there is no specific window for nutrient intake within a day. That being said, I like coming back into the locker room at the gym after a good workout and relaxing while drinking a chocolate protein shake. It jsut feels good to me!

You certainly could. According to Lyle McDonald on his website BodyRecompostiion.com he would say, carbs before and protein after. The carbs fuel the workout and research shows that a fed workout with carbs increases lipolysis over a fasted workout. But again, timing is not as critical as getting adequate nutrients over a day.
