food sensitivity and weight loss

Has anyone gotten a blood test that tests for food sensitivites? It's pricey and not covered by insurance so I'm curious to hear if anyone has done with and found it helped with weight loss. The theory is that if you have a sensitivity to certain foods and you continue to eat them you get inflammation, making it difficult to loose weight.

I just had one done 2 wks ago, it was pricey well at least for me. $400. The Dr. told me the same things, that if I have a food allergy, and find out what it is and avoid those foods, it would help with my weight loss and my adult acne. I found out I have a high allergy to coffee, yeast and oranges and then a crap load of light allergies to things like onion, soy, mushrooms, mustard, grapes and quite a few more, those things I can eat on a 4 day rotation which is a bit easier but to stay away from the high allergy foods for 30 days to start to see if there is a change. So far I dont see any difference in weight, but it also takes time to found out ALL the foods that have yeast, apparently a lot do and its a learning process, so Im sure i've slipped up. Its also TOM and I feel fat anyway lol. I do think it has helped with my digestion and adult acne somewhat. I havent had any new breakouts and the old ones are healing. Im going to give the 30 days to see if there is a difference but I'd love to see other ppl's responses. (sorry my response was so long)0

My suggestion: Check out doing a food elimination diet. I'm a big fan of the Whole30, but that will tell you more than a test will. I've had many blood and skin tests done for allergens and I can tell you that if you have any damage to your intestinal lining, which can be caused by gluten or other grains, that you will show "positive" on blood tests for otherwise innocuous foods, even if you don't have a true allergy to them. Just something to think about! Also, if you go to an allergist, it should be covered by insurance. That's what I have done.0
