Warm-Up Sets... Stronglifts 5 x 5

HI all,

I'm preparing myself to begin a strength training routine. I've read NROLFW and StrongLifts 5 x 5. I've chosen to start with 5 x 5 because it seems less complicated and the moves aren't as intimidating to me.

Anyway, I read i should warm up before doing squats and deadlifts. It seems like alot of reps for warming up.
Is there another way to warm up (stop thinking nasty :laugh: )? can I warm up on the elliptical? I know myself and the longer the time i spend in the gym the less likely i will stick with it.
