Calories burned

I am trying to understand why the machine I use at the gym shows different calories burned compared to when I enter it in on my exercise chart on here. The chart on fitness pal shows double to what my machine shows at the gym. I would love to go with the what fitness pal says but I do not want to be cheating myself. Any ideas on how to combat this?

get a heart rate monitor.
I have a polar ft7 and it tells me exactly how many calories I burn.
I THINK that mfp ovr estimates on a lot of stuff. That being said- I think that mfp take into accoutn your height, weight and age when calculating cals burned, whereas the machine would not do that unless you put that info in.0 -
The machines are just an estimate based on your weight and height. The real measure is different based on your individual ability. You would need a heart rate monitor to be accurate. I was way overestimating my calorie before getting one.0
